First Trimester

(6-13 weeks)

The first trimester is an incredible time of rapid development. During these early weeks, your baby is growing quickly and beginning to form the tiny structures that will soon become more recognizable features.

While baby is still very small, this stage often allows you to see the entire baby on the screen at once. Many families love visiting during this time to watch those first little wiggles and see their baby’s heartbeat, making it a truly special early bonding experience.

Although detailed facial imaging isn’t the focus yet, these sessions are all about celebrating those early milestones and seeing your baby’s amazing growth.

Early Second Trimester

(14-21 weeks)

This stage is an exciting time because baby is growing quickly and beginning to develop more recognizable features. Baby is still relatively small with plenty of surrounding space, which often allows for great full-body views and lots of movement during your session.

During this time, you may see baby stretching, kicking, or bringing their hands up toward their face. Facial features are starting to take shape, making it possible to capture early 3D images while still seeing more of baby’s whole body.

This is also the stage when many families choose to visit for a gender reveal ultrasound, making it a fun and memorable milestone in your pregnancy journey.

Early Third Trimester

28-34 weeks

This is often considered the sweet spot for 3D and 4D ultrasound imaging. By this stage, your baby has developed fuller facial features, including those adorable chubby cheeks, making it possible to capture incredibly detailed images.

Baby is still small enough to move and adjust positions, but developed enough for those beautiful facial views many families hope to see. During your session, you may catch baby yawning, stretching, sucking their thumb, or even smiling.

This window is a favorite for many parents because it offers a wonderful balance of well-developed features and enough space for baby to settle into great positions for imaging.

Late Second Trimester

22-27 weeks

This stage is a beautiful transition period in your baby’s development. Baby is growing quickly and beginning to develop more defined facial features, while still having enough room in the womb to move and shift into good positions for imaging.

During this window, many families are able to see sweet details like baby’s profile, tiny nose, lips, and even little hand movements. While those adorable chubby cheeks are still filling in, this stage can still produce some lovely 3D images and special bonding moments.

Every baby is different, but this time often gives a wonderful balance of developing features and space for baby to move comfortably during your session.

Late Third Trimester

35+ weeks

By this stage, your baby is getting cozy and preparing for arrival. Baby has developed beautifully full facial features, and when positioning allows, this stage can capture incredibly sweet and detailed images of those chunky cheeks and tiny expressions.

Because space in the womb becomes more limited, babies may be tucked deeper into the pelvis or facing the placenta, which can sometimes make imaging more challenging. However, when baby cooperates, late-pregnancy sessions can produce some of the most adorable and memorable images.

These sessions are often a special final peek before meeting your little one.
